Questions
Gates & Automation: what people ask.
Can you automate a gate I already have?
Sometimes. If the gate frame is square and the posts are solid, we can add an opener with keypad, remote or app control. If the frame sags or the posts have moved, an opener will only make it worse, so we'll tell you that and quote a new reinforced gate instead. Send a few photos and we'll give you a first answer.
What happens to an automated gate in a power outage?
We install openers with a manual release, so you can always open the gate by hand. Battery backup is also available, which keeps the gate opening and closing on its own through an outage. On the day we finish, we show you how both work so you aren't working it out in the dark.
Should I choose a swing gate or a slide gate?
Swing gates need clear space to open, so they suit flat, deep driveways. Slide gates run along the fence line, which suits sloped or short driveways where a swing gate would hit the ground or a parked car. We measure the opening and the space around it at the consult and recommend the one that fits.
